A Short Story Of Uthman (RA)

Hazrat Uthman (RA) stated:

I have found the sweetness of worship in ‘4’ things.

1: Performing the obligatory acts of worship enjoined by Allah Almighty.

2: Avoiding the things forbidden by Allah Almighty.

3: Seeking the reward of Allah Almighty.

4: fearing the wrath of Allah Almighty.

He was third Caliph of the Muslim. He was born in Makkah after the 6th year of Amul-Fill (573 AD). Hazrat Uthman ibn Affan was about 5 years younger than the prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

He belonged to a noble family of Ummayyah (branch of Quraish in Makkah). Uthman’s father name was Affan bin Abul-AS. His mother name was Arwa. Hazrat Uthman (RA) was one of few residents of Makkah who could read and write. He started a cloth business in his youth and in this way he became a great merchant among the Makkans.

Hazrat Uthman (RA) and Hazrat Abu Bakr (RA) are both close friends from the beginning. After the announcement of Prophet Hood of Hazrat Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), Hazrat Abu Bakr (RA) offered him to enter in Islam.

So Hazrat Uthman (RA) accepted the message of Islam and entered into Islam. At that time, Banu Umayyah and Banu Hashim were both opponents of each other.

After the acceptance of Islam, Hazrat Uthman’s family and relatives started to hate him. But he did not care about all. After the Migration from Makkah to Madina, Uthman (RA) bought a well from a Jew for people and Muslims.

At that time, Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) gave him the glad tidings of Jannah in the hereafter. Hazrat Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) had four daughters in which two daughters are married to Hazrat Uthman (RA).

Hazrat Ruqayya (RA) who was married to the son of Abu Lahab but he had divorced her due to the preaching of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Then, she was married to Hazrat Uthman (RA).

Hazrat Uthman (RA) did not participate in the Battle of Badr because Hazrat Ruqayya (RA) was seriously ill as Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) ordered him to take care of her in Madinah. Hazrat Ruqayya (RA) dead on the night of Battle of Badr.

The Messenger (PBUH) of Allah married his second daughter Hazra Kulthum (RA) to Hazrat Uthman (RA). Thus Uthman (RA) got a title of Dhun-Nurain by having the great respect of marrying “2” of the daughters of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

At the time of Battle of Tabuk, He (RA) helps the army of Muslims with his material gold coins, horses and camels.

Hazrat Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) said:

“From this day on, nothing will harm Uthman regardless of what he does.” (Tirmidhi)

Hazrat Uthman (RA) is a Kaatlb e whai which means the writer of Quranic revelations. At that time of Muhammad (PBUH), when a Quranic verse or surah revealed then a writer wrote it. After the death of Hazrat Umar (RA), Hazrat Uthman (RA) was selected for 3rd Caliph or ruler of Muslims.

Hazrat Uthman (RA) is the conquest of Turkey, Murrow and the expansion of the Islamic State. In addition to the conquest of Alexandria and then Khurasan, Africa, Cyprus, Armenia, Caucasus, and Khurasan. Hazrat Uthman (RA) expanded the Al-Nabvi Mosque and He (RA) established the first Islamic Naval to protect the Muslim beaches from the attacks of Byzantines.

The one of great achievement from the other achievements of Hazrat Uthman (RA) is the compilation of the Holy Quran, which was started in the reign of Abu Bakr Saddiq (RA).

Hazrat Uthman (RA) was killed by a rebel whose name was Sudaan ibn Hamran when he was reciting the Holy Quran in his house while his wife Hazrat Naila (RA) wanted to protect him by hands but at that time her fingers cut off.

He was dead at the age of 72-73 years in the month of Dahul Hijjah. Hazrat Uthman (RA) was buried in the Jannat ul Baqi which is situated in the city Madina. Most of Muslims visit this graveyard during the journey of Umrah and Hajj. Nowadays, everyone visits this site during the Umrah because travel agencies provide the best Umrah Packages.
